Mitchell Whaley, 59

Mitchell Lynn Whaley was born Sept. 14, 1951, to Lynn Arthur and Betty Jo (Liner) Whaley in Arnold, and died July 1, 2011, in Callaway.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Jo (Gerry) Wicks; children, Fontaine Crouch of Enid, Okla., Dustin Whaley of Chandler, Ariz., Samantha Whaley of Omaha, and Austin Whaley of Sioux Falls, S.D.; granddaughters, Cierra Cofer, Kaylyn Madison and Melia Crouch; sister, Sony Jones of Sandy, Utah; brother, Chuck Whaley of Alliance; step-brother, John (Shauna) Pursley of Aurora, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by the love his life, Melody Stobbe, her children, Brian (Sara) Stobbe and Stephanie (Brian Kottich, and grandchildren, Kale, Autumn, Conner, Brady and Kierra Stobbe, and Cody, Kristen, Thad, Brooklynn and Jorjie Kottich.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Arthur, and step-mother, Lou.
He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1969. Mitch could always be found working on a project outside or around the house. he particularly loved working on the family farm in Callaway, where he was working to restore his father’s childhood home.
Memorial services were Wednesday, July 13, at Iverson Memorial Chapel in Broken Bow. Inurnment followed at the Callaway Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Iverson Memorial Chapel of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
