Mona M. West, 78, of Kearney, died Oct. 12, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services were Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 10:30 am at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Dean Pofahl officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasanton Cemetery with visitation preceeding on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Mona was born November 18, 1933 south of Litchfield in Buffalo County to Raymond and Beulah (Crosley) Lindner. She grew up in rural Buffalo County and attended Pleasant Valley Grade School.
Mona graduated from Litchfield High School in 1951. She married Charles ‘Smokey’ West Dec. 9, 1950, in Ansley, Neb.
They lived in Mason City, and then moved to a farm near Ansley in 1960.
They moved to Kearney in 1981, where she worked at Glenwood Corners Conven-ience Store. Mona enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and especially loved softball, she also enjoyed doing genealogy. Mona was an avid Cornhusker football fan.
Survivors include her husband Charles ‘Smokey’ West; sons, Chuck West of Thornton, CO and Rick and wife Galene West of Loveland, Colo,; brothers; Lonnie and wife Judy Lindner of Ansley, Lester and wife Pat Lindner of Kearney, and Larry and wife Barb Lindner of Pleasanton; sister Pat Valentine of Pleasanton; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mona was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Lee in 1958 and Kathy; and her husband Dennis Hurlburt in 2009; sister Beverly Epley in 2012; and one great-grandson.
Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements.
