Ray Lewandowski, 79, of Litchfield, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his home in Litchfield. Services were Monday, March 21, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Hazard with the Rev. Martin Egging officiating. Burial was in the Litchfield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Litchfield Fire Department or St. Gabriel’s Altar Society. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna was in charge of arrangements.
Ray Lewandowski was born Decc 17, 1931, in Sherman County, to John and Barbara (Kaminski) Lewandowski. He was educated in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1949.
He married Lucille Schachta Nov. 21, 1959. The couple lived on the Lewandowski family farm three miles east and north of Litchfield. They retired in the fall of 1999, and moved to Litchfield. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Amy Lewandowski of Callaway; daughter, Kay Pierce of Callaway; seven grandchildren, Sheena, Amy, Kelly, Kendra, Kimberly, Robert and Kyle, and one great-grandson, Wyatt Glos.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, May 16, 2007; one brother, Al, and two sisters, Louise and Helen.
