Rolland George, 81
Juniata resident, Rolland E. George, 81, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings.
Services were July 17, 2012; at Juniata United Methodist Church in Juniata with Pastor Jim Miller officiating. Burial with military rites was at Juniata Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Juniata United Methodist Church or Juniata American Legion. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Hastings was in charge of arrangements. Rolland was born Aug. 8, 1930, to John E. and Olga (Peterson) George in Gresham. He received his education in Gresham and graduated from Gresham High School in 1947. He served in the Army from Feb. 19, 1953. to Feb. 9, 1955, and was in Korea.
Rolland married Betty J. Shaw Aug. 21, 1960, in Ansley. He and Betty moved to Juniata in 1963 from Ansley. He was a member of the VFW, Juniata United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of Juniata American Legion Post 365. Rolland built miniature farm buildings, equipment and windmills used as lawn ornaments. He also restored antique hand plows.
Rolland E. George was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; and brothers, Raymond George, Tom George and Arnold George.
He is survived by his wife, Betty George of Juniata; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Chris Mitchell of Wood River; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Donna George of Hansen; grandchildren and spouses, Laurie and Kent Keiser of Lincoln, Anthony and Arryn George of Kearney, Alexis George of Kearney, Brant George of Lincoln, Grant and Tiffany Marsh of Hastings, Travis Marsh of Dallas, Texas, Adam and Tiffany Fitzke of Hastings, Nichole and Adam Hoesing of Lincoln, Bryce and Kelli Fitzke of Hastings; great-grandchildren, Grayson Marsh, Alivia George, Ruby Fitzke, Paetyn Fitzke; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Janis George of Waco.
