Ronald Douglas, 74

Ronald George Douglas was born Nov. 11, 1936, at Sargent, to George and Gertrude (Daugherty) Douglas. He departed this life Nov. 9, 2011.
Cremation was chosen as Ron’s wishes and graveside services will be at a later date. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is serving the family.
Ron lost his daddy when he was 6-months-old. His mother remarried Grant Hart when he was 10-years-old, and they moved to the family farm where he liked to play on the hills by the house.
Ron attended Sargent High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1955 and served until 1958.
Ron married Jeanette Gruber, and they had two children: Douglas Duane and Darla Dee.
He later married Kathy Mashaney at North Platte, and they had two children: Shaney and Grant.
Ron worked at various jobs in Custer and Lincoln Counties. He entered the Veterans Home in Grand Island in 2011.
At the time of his passing he leaves his four children; sisters, Velma (Ernie) Sandberg of Hillsdale, Wyo., Beverly (Andrew) Crawford of Axtell, and Jeanine (John) O'Connor of Sargent, and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Grant; sister, Betty; brother, Glen, and nephew Robert Crawford.
