Sally Vannice, 66
Sally Vannice, 66, departed this earth Thursday, March 17, the first day of Spring.
Sally was born in Allentown, Pa, in 1947, and was adopted at the age of 6 months by her parents, Kathryn and Kenneth Poorman of Lock Haven, Pa.
She graduated summa cum laude from Northern Michigan University in 1977. Soon after, she moved to Lincoln, where she worked for the University of Nebraska Athletic Department and the Liquor Control Commission. She later worked for the Metropolitan Community College.
While at Metro, Sally wrote curriculum for incarcerated adults and later became the Administrator for the prisons in Lincoln. Later she became the Interim State Wide Administrator. Sally retired from Metro at age 55.
After retirement, Sally did volunteer work for various organizations such as the YMCA and Goodwill.
She spent the last few years searching for her biological family and found her brother and sister in Northampton, Pa., several years ago.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn and Kenneth Poorman of Lock Haven, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, and sons, Tyler of Lincoln, and Gary Zell of Tucson, Ariz. and his wife Ale, and their children, Diego and Samantha (Sammy); her brother, Tom Poorman and wife Carole of Maryland; her sister, Donna and husband Don, and brother Robert Linden-moyer and wife Kathy, all of Northampton, Pa.
Sally requested no services. Her ashes will be spread in her Pennsylvania Mountains.
