Scott J. Bristol, 51 of Bulacan, Philippines, formerly of Broken Bow and Kearney, died May 20, 2011, at the Marcelo Padilla Hospital in Plaridel, Bulacan, Philippines.
A memorial of life service will be Wednesday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at the Kearney Church of Christ in Kearney with Eddie Lee officiating and R. P. Smith the "Cowboy Poet". Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
Scott was born at Broken Bow Jan. 29, 1960 to Max and Lenore (Slingsby) Bristol. December 3, 2010, he married Marita Ampuan in Guiguinto, Bulcan Phillippines.
Scott attended K-6 grade at Round Hill, a rural grade school south of Broken Bow. He attended and graduated from Broken Bow High School with the class of 1978.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps June 9, 1982, taking his basic training at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, Calif. He was stationed in Memphis, Tenn., Yuma, Ariz., and the next two years in Japan. He re-enlisted in 1986, serving the next four years in California and Japan.
After an honorable discharge he remained in San Diego and worked for the United States Postal Service for several years as well as doing landscaping and lawn work.

In January 2002, he moved back to Nebraska to enjoy a quiet lifestyle and to be with family. He continued operating his own landscape and lawn business as well as custom weed spraying with his father.
Survivors include his wife, Marita, and his four step-children, Marshy, Shahmar, Mashallah and Mharia, all of Bulacan, Philippines.
Scott is also survived by his parents, Max and Lenore Bristol of Kearney; brothers, Mike (Lisa Diane) Bristol and Russ (Lisa Ann) Bristol of Broken Bow; sisters, Cindy Gilmore of Kearney and Linda (Wayne) Lienemann of Hildreth; nieces and nephews,Craig, Derek (wife Jennifer and daughter Jaelyn), Brittney, Zach and Abby Bristol, Ryan Fisher, Mackenzie and Drake Brand, and Hannah Lienemann. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Maxine Slingsby, and Ernest and Dorothy Bristol, and nephew Austin Fisher.
