Terry L. Lovitt, 68

Terry Lynn Lovitt was born Feb. 4, 1943, in North Platte to Lloyd and Maxine (Linderman) Lovitt. He departed this life May 23, 2011, northeast of Arnold.
He was born into an agricultural lifestyle that encouraged a love of the Sandhills, horses and rodeo that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He attended rural school in Lincoln County, and graduated from Stapleton High School in 1961.
He married Janice Layher in Stapleton Nov. 18, 1961. To this union four children were born. Together they ran the Wagon Wheel Tavern in Stapleton for 20 years.
Later in life he worked for other area ranchers and built up his own ranching operation, known as the Spring Creek Ranch.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Shelly) Lovitt of Tryon, Tammy (Robert) Morrison of North Platte, Jay (Brenda) Lovitt of Mullen, and Barry (Nikki) Lovitt of Stapleton; grandchildren, Taylor (Brett) Gumb, Jordan Lovitt, Madison Morrison, Ashton Morrison, Kaden Morrison, Jessica Lovitt, Jade Tyler Lovitt, Colton Lovitt and Hunter Lovitt; his mother, Maxine Lovitt of Stapleton; two sisters and two brothers, Jerrilynn Godfrey, Kennard (Donna Jo) Lovitt, Candy (Ben) Barbee and Max (Diane) Lovitt; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Lovitt; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Godfrey and Larry Hanna.
Funeral services were May 26, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Arnold with A.B. Cox officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Springs Ranch west of Arnold. A memorial has been established. Arnold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
