Throwback Thursday to November 15 1979

In honor of Veterans Day we are throwing back to the November 15, 1979 issue of the Custer County Chief.

Member of the Broken Bow Veterans of Foregin Wars color guard were on hand early Monday morning as part of the city's Veterans Day festivities. Standing (l-r) are Bill Mohatt, John Birnie, Jim Mayo and Al Brand.
Several local residents were on hand to mark the occasion which honors those people who have sacrificially served our county to preserve its freedom.
Post Commander Glenn Knapp was master of ceremonies, Mayor Robert Jacobsen presented the keynote address, the Broken Bow high band presented assorted musical selections, and the Rev. Willard Ballard offered the invocation and benediction.
Honored guests were Lenore Craig, president of the American Legion Auxiliary; Charles Cotter, president of the Veterans Memorial, Inc.; Leslie Goodman, Commander of Chapter 41 DA; John Birnie, Commander VFW Dist. 12; Beth Knapp, president of VFW Auxiliary, and Cleon Carpenter, Commander American Legion Post 126.
