Bow Spirit fall in league tournament PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 July 2008
The Broken Bow Senior Spirit softball team competed in their league tournament this weekend, which took place in Ord. The tournament is double-elimination, which means that every team has to lose twice before being eliminated.
The Spirit opened the tournament against Ord and were defeated by a score of 13-9. Jennifer Finney and Megan Linn each recorded 2 hits and an RBI for Broken Bow. Celina Twitchell notched 3 RBI’s in the loss.
Bow looked to stay alive in the second game as they battled Arcadia. The Spirit was able to pick up the win by the score of 12-7 to remain in the tournament. Kayla Berns pitched 6 strong innings for Broken Bow as the offense played well all around.
The Spirit then battled Ord II with hopes of keeping their district championship dreams alive. Berns was the pitcher again for the Spirit, and threw a solid game as she allowed 6 runs through all 7 innings. However, Bow struggled to score to score runs as they pushed across just 2 throughout the game. The Spirit fell 6-2 and were eliminated from the tournament. Broken Bow will next compete in the Class C State Tournament, which takes place in South Sioux City beginning July 11.

If your not a winter sports athlete as I wasn't, be sure
to make use of the weight room. Their is always time for conditioning when your
season begins.  Use the Weights in the off-season to add the muscle you will need to
get a leg-up on the competition.  Quote from my Favorite Track Coach  "If you want
to make it to the Big City (Omaha) you have to be Fast.  If you want to make it and
do well, YOU GOTTA ADD THE MUSCLE!" -Joshua Curlile
