County, city seats will see new members PDF Print E-mail

Two county board seats will have new occupants when board members are sworn in in January.
    Mark Haynes, Broken Bow,  defeated Clifford Klein of Merna to take the District 4 seat, vacated by Marvin Sterner.
    Haynes received 672 votes and Klein received 343.
   Roy Lichtenberger and Richard Walter, both of Callaway, were in the race for the District 6 seat.
    Lichtenberger defeated Walter with a vote of 505 to Walter’s 196.
    The other board seat open for election will be retained by Broken Bow’s Larry Hickenbottom, who ran unopposed.
    Broken Bow’s City Council will also see two new members in January.
    Former council member Jim Franssen lost in his bid for the West Ward seat against Chad Schall. Schall received 532 votes and Franssen received 209.
    The seat was vacated by Barry Fox, who did not run for re-election.
    Doug Smith will replace Jack Mattox for the East Ward seat. Mattox did not run for re-election.
    Smith, who ran unopposed, received 621 votes.
