• Borders selected for position • Contract not final
Custer County’s Board of Supervisors offered a contract for public defender services last week. The board selected Mike Borders of Broken Bow, one of four attorneys who had been recommended for the spot. The contract, and its details, were not final as of press time Tuesday. The board was set to meet regarding the contract Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. The county’s current public defender, Jim Orr, has been appointed to a judgeship in the Eighth Judicial District and will relocate to Valentine. In December, the County Board interviewed four candidates recommended by the Public Defender Policy Board.
