The hills surrounding Melham Park were covered in lawn chairs and blankets, as hundreds of people packed in to the park for the annual 4th of July Fireworks Display, sponsored by the Broken Bow Volunteer Fire Department. Following the grand finale, the firemen were thanked with shouts, whistles and horns honking from the appreciative crowd. Several communities held celebrations over the holiday weekend, with parades, games and lots of food. Pictures from those community celebrations can be found in this week's Custer County Chief.
