ImageMost school doors in the region open to students next week, and one welcomes its secondary students back tomorrow. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller kicks off the 2009-10 school year when seventh-12th grade students report tomorrow morning. SEM’s elementary students start school Monday.
    The remainder of area schools start next week. Here’s the information for the schools in the Chief coverage area:
     Anselmo-Merna: School starts Tuesday. There is an elementary open house Monday from 5-7 p.m. Seventh grade orientation is Monday at 7 p.m.
     Ansley: School starts Wednesday. There will be an open house Tuesday with hot dogs, chips and ice cream served in the old gym from 5:30-6:15. An assembly will follow from 6:30-7 p.m. Visitors can go to classrooms from 7-7:45 p.m. A parents and coaches meeting for athletics begins at 7:45 p.m.
     Arcadia: High School students will start Wednesday and elementary students will begin next Thursday. The school will host a patron dinner Monday at 5:30 p.m., followed by tours from 6:30-8 p.m.
     Arnold: Arnold students start school Monday. The school will host a laptop checkout tonight at 7 p.m.
     Broken Bow: The first day of school will be Wednesday. Elementary students will start at 8:05 a.m., middle school students at 8:15 a.m. and high school students at 9:30 a.m. School will dismiss early through August 28.
    Sixth grade orientation will be Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. Elementary open house will be Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
     Callaway/Oconto: School starts Aug. 21. That day, school hours will be 10 a.m.-2:33 p.m. There will be an elementary open house next Thursday at 7 p.m.
     Litchfield: School starts in Litchfield Wednesday.
     Loup County: Loup County School at Taylor begins Wednesday. There is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal that day.
     Mullen: Students return to school in Mullen Wednesday. High school students will register for classes Monday afternoon.
     Sandhills: Sandhills School at Dunning opens Wednesday. The school will host a “Boot Camp” for parent to introduce the 1:1 computer program at 7 p.m.
     Sargent: Sargent students return to school Monday. Tonight, the school will host a meeting for high school parents to address laptop computers and athletics. That meeting begins at 7 p.m. There will be an elementary open house Wednesday at 6 p.m.
     Thedford: Thedford’s secondary classes start Wednesday. Elementary students return to school Aug. 26.
