The 2009 state volleyball tournament begins today in Lincoln.  In Class D1, the Ansley Lady Warriors will meet Meridian Thursday night at Lincoln East High School with play scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.  Ansley is 25-3 on the season and is the number six seed in the tournament.  Meridian is 25-6 and seeded third. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Friday to play the winner of Winside / Exeter-Milligan.

The Mullen Lady Broncos will meet Clay Center at 3:30 this afternoon (Thursday) at Lincoln Southwest High School.  Mullen, at 25-4, is the number six seed, while Clay Center, 29-2, is seeded third.  The winner advances to Friday's semifinals to play the winner of Chambers / Falls City Sacred Heart. 

For those fans unable to attend the games, all Ansley and Mullen matches will be broadcast live on KCNI/KBBN radio. Then be sure to see next week's Custer County Chief for a very special salute to these two teams!
