Special election set for today in Bow PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 December 2009

ImageBow residents head to the polls today, Dec. 15 to say yea, or nay, to Keno in Broken Bow. A resolution passed at the Oct. 13, 2009, City Council meeting placed the issue on the ballot. One central polling site is planned at the Municipal Building in Broken Bow.
State statutes allow a county or a city to become a licensing agent for Keno as a source of revenue for city improvement. And as licensing agents, should a private business choose to go through the city to place Keno in their establishment, a state directed percentage of the income would come back to the city.
Statutes regulate the percentages that those establishments can charge as fees, as well as the percentage that must be paid out in winnings. Those Broken Bow residents living within the city limits will be allowed to vote, but they must be registered before heading to the polls.
