This past Saturday and Sunday evenings, the Broken Bow Runza sponsored a fundraising event for the Kim Staab family, who recently lost their home in a fire. Runza donated 15% of sales those two evenings as well as the money from a donation bucket located inside the store to the family. Between the two, a total of $665 was raised. Kim's son, Tyler, is an employee at Runza, and store owner Joyce Richardson said they appreciate him very much and were pleased to be able to do something to help. Pictured above, from left, are Kim and Kathy Staab, and Runza owners Joyce and Kevin Richardson. The Broken Bow Lion's Club will also host a benefit spaghetti supper for the Staab family, tonight - Feb. 2 - at the Municipal Building. Serving will be from 5-8 p.m. with free will donations taken for the family. COMING IN THIS WEEK'S CHIEF: • Local woman makes plans to join in Haiti recovery effort. • Broken Bow teen named finalist in Nebraska's Homecoming Queen contest. • Kick-off of Healthier Central Nebraska Weight Loss Challenge - season 3. • City council approves city utility rate increase.
