Ona M. Prescott, 94, was born Oct. 1, 1913, and departed our company to a better life April 20, 2008, at the Iowa City Mercy Hospital ICU following a brief illness. She was currently residing in Washington, Iowa.
Ona Myrtle (Robertson) Prescott was born in Anselmo, the daughter of William C. and Mildred (Schultz) Robertson. She married Floyd Prescott Sept. 10, 1930, in Broken Bow. Ona attended school in Anselmo. She brightened various people’s lives in Broken Bow, Greeley, Boulder and Westminster Colo., and Washington, Iowa. Ona was an old-style homemaker, just as comfortable cooking homemade gravy atop the kitchen stove, sewing up a torn pair of jeans, or canning tomatoes, as she was behind a rod and reel fishing for kokanee trout in Shadow Mountain Reservoir at Granby, Colo. Ona is survived by her husband of 78 years, Floyd W. Prescott; two brothers, William (Bill) Robertson and his wife, Marcille, and John Robertson of Seattle, Wash.; and five children, Dona Watson, Joan Hoyle and husband Gerald, Rodney Prescott, Janet Janecek and husband, George and Judy Janecek and husband Wayne, all of Washington, Iowa. Survivors also include 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and 16 orphan barn cats. Ona was cremated and her ashes will be retained by her children, placed with Floyd’s at the time of his departure and deposited by them as a family decision later. |
