Virginia Marsh, 95
Virginia May Marsh, age 95, passed away Nov. 27, 2013, in Chandler, Ariz. Virginia was born Dec. 31, 1917, at Arcadia, to Heslie Hall and Rebecca Kay (Hill) Shepperd. She attended rural school in
Valley County and graduated from Comstock High School in 1934.
Virginia married Orval H. Marsh Feb. 2, 1938. Virginia worked as a sales clerk at the Farmers Union and Copp's Store in Comstock. After her sons graduated from high school, she moved to Lincoln and worked at Kresge's and K Mart until she retired in 1983.
During her retirement years Virginia enjoyed spending time both in Lincoln and in Comstock. She loved socializing with her friends in Lincoln. They went on a cruise, attended the Rose Parade and went on many daytrips together. They loved shopping and eating out... they called it "gallivanting".
Virginia also enjoyed traveling to Kentucky several times to visit her sister, Doris.
Comstock was always home-base for Virginia. She loved the old town house and carrying on the tradition there of having many family dinners on holidays. She also enjoyed going to the Comstock Den for coffee, lunch, and working on
Virginia will certainly be remembered for her beautiful crochet work. This was a hobby that she enjoyed throughout her life. She gave many of her crocheted afghans as gifts to family and friends.
Virginia moved to Sun Lakes, Ariz. in 2004, so she could live closer to her son and daughter-in-law, John and Norma Marsh. During her nine years in Arizona she became active in the Knitt Witts, where she crocheted baby caps and afghans for the newborns at the Chandler Hospital. She also participated in the Arizona Angels, which was a group of 100 ladies who volunteered to crocket lap robes, slippers, etc. for our military people.
Survivors are her son, John, and daughter-in-law, Norma, of Sun Lakes,
Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Orval; son, Donald and his wife Janice; brothers, George Shepperd,
Leslie Shepperd, and her sister, Doris Maresh.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Douglas Grove Cemetery near Comstock.
