Woodrow "Woody" Sells, 95

Woodrow H. "Woody" Sells, 95, former resident, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at his home in Carlsbad, N.M.
Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Carlsbad, with the Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Masonic Service was performed by Eddy Lodge 21 AF&AM. A Lodge of Sorrow convened Friday, August 10, in Carlsbad. Interment followed in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard provided military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Woodrow H. "Woody" Sells was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Merna, to Anthony and Lillian (Ferguson) Sells. He married Margaret Ryman Dec. 16, 1941, in Merna.
Woody served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had a long time career with Burlington Northern Railroad, serving more than 42 years. Woody recently received his 60-year pin as a Masonic Lodge member.
His hobbies included bowling, golfing, woodworking and fishing.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Virgil and Raymond Sells; and sisters, Viola Maddoux and Mabel Arthur.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret L. "Peggy" Sells of Carlsbad, NM; son, Larry Sells and wife, Becky of Carlsbad, NM; two grandsons, Todd Sells and wife, Joy of Eureka, Mont., Lance Sells and wife, Kristin of Guinea, Africa; four great-grandchildren, Mikala Sells, Michelle Sells, Alexander Sells and Cassandra Sells and numerous nieces and nephews.
