Young girl injured in accident at Nebraska State Fair

August 26, 2014

An 8-year-old girl, a third grader from Engleman Elementary School in Grand Island, was injured today when she was struck by a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) driven by a Nebraska State Fair employee.

Injuries have not been confirmed, but it’s believed injuries were sustained to the lower extremities of the accident victim.

The girl was at the fair as part of Nebraska’s Largest Classroom—a free program designed for school agers from across Nebraska so that they can learn more about Nebraska agriculture.

The matter is currently under investigation and no further details are available at this time.

A press conference will be held at 10am on Tuesday, August 26th in the boardroom of the Nebraska Building, second floor, in Grand Island.

The name of the girl has not been released because of her age.
