The Broken Bow Indians competed in three more baseball games the past week. The juniors and seniors traveled to Gibbon Wednesday before hosting TBS and Overton over the weekend.
Both Broken Bow teams won all three of their games, beginning Wednesday against Shelton /Gibbon.
The Bow juniors bumped their record to a perfect 10-0 following the three wins.
The Indians trailed 8-3 entering the final inning and would need a comeback victory to earn the win.
Just on cue, the Indians put together a rally in the top half of the 7th inning. Bow pushed across 10 runs on just 6 hits to take a 13-8 lead.
The Indian defense retired the first 3 batters in the bottom of the inning to clinch the 13-8 victory.
Derek Gaston was the starting pitcher for the Indians in the game. Gaston pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing 8 runs on 11 hits. Gaston also recorded 9 strikeouts while not surrendering a walk.
Gaston gave way to Shane McCormick, who closed the game for the Indians. McCormick did not surrender a run or a hit as he shut down the Shelton/Gibbon batters.
The Indians improved to 8-0 while handing Shelton/Gibbon it’s first loss as they fell to 5-1.
