40th DU Banquet

The Mid-Nebraska Chapter of Ducks Unlimited (DU) held their 40th Anniversary Banquet Fri. Jan. 12th at the Broken Bow Country Club. Tif Varney recognized the founding members 40 years ago. Bill Arnold, Tuffy Winberg, Dick Towns, Butch Brunken, Gary Henning, and Tiff Varney. When asked why the started the Mid-Nebraska group, “we were just a bunch of guys who liked to duck hunt” stated Varney. The event was a “family” affair with the children enjoying games and pizza sponsored by Adams Land & Cattle while the parents enjoyed a steak dinner and auction. Did you known, DU has conserved more than 78,134 acres in Nebraska and over 1,849,991 in the Central Flyway. Since 2004, there has been a 140% increase in the rate of wetland loss. Nebraska has more than 32,000 waterfowl hunters. The local chapter raided $ 18,768 gross Friday night.
