Dear Fellow Nebraskans:

On May 27, we will observe the Memorial Day holiday in a variety of ways. For some, this weekend will serve as the unofficial start summer, and I encourage everyone to join family and friends and explore all Nebraska has to offer.

Reader applauds choice for Fair Grounds Manager

April 26, 2013

To the Custer County Ag Society ...

First of all-kudos to you all for making a great choice in a fairgrounds manager. I regret that I am unable to attend your meeting, due to prior commitments with my family, but I wanted to voice my support for what he has done so far.

Thank you Sylvester's!

Dear Custer County:
WOW! What a treasure we have in Jeannie and Fred at Sylvester’s in Broken Bow. In the past eight years they have been able to give away tens of thousands of dollars to countless programs involving our youth. Speaking as president of the PTA, I thank them for donating $15,967.36 this year to the Little Feet, Big Dreams campaign to raise money for some much needed playground equipment at North Park Elementary. As a parent, I thank them for continuing to fight for our children.

By Melissa Garcia
Custer Economic Development Director

It has been an exciting year for Custer County already! From being named one of the best places to live in the US to the announcements of some fantastic community developments. I never stop being in awe of the way our residents as willing to continually invest in the future of our region. Making headlines across the state and beyond has been CobbleStone Hotel & Suites and the One Box Convention Center. What a tremendous addition to the region.

I’m sure that she would agree that enduring this part of the pregnancy during the heat of the summer is going to be great fun. Well, maybe she wouldn’t agree with me, but someone has to be positive. Anyway, this got me to thinking about a story that my Granddad used to tell me.
