Lois Irene Hood, 80 of Kearney, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Cambridge Court Assisted Living. She was born March 21, 1930, at Broken Bow, to Elmer and Evelyn (Moody) McCaslin. Lois attended school in Broken Bow.
Lois was united in marriage to George Curtis in 1951, in Broken Bow. Six children were blessed to this union; Clyde, Kenneth, Keith, Dawn, Laura and Pam. She was then united in marriage to Herman Hood July 5, 1967, in Broken Bow. He died April 15, 1970.
Lois was a homemaker and spent her time raising her six children. She lived in Broken Bow for many years before moving to Blaine County in 1967, and in 1968 she moved to Anselmo In 1980, Lois moved to Grand Island and from there lived in various places including Lexington and then moving to Kearney in 2010.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cross-stitching. Lois also loved collecting porcelain dolls. Lois was a member of the Assembly Of God Church in Beatrice.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde and wife Joyce Curtis of Pawnee City, Kenneth Curtis of Lincoln, Keith Curtis of Grand Island; three daughters, Dawn Potter of Kearney, Laura and husband Randy Prall of Alliance, Pam and husband Wayne DeLancey of Lincoln; one brother, Wesley and wife Susan McCaslin of Lake Charles, La.; five sisters, Mary Jo Hinman of Omaha, Sharroll Bishop of Taylor, Bernice Brooks of Moscow, Idaho, Elizabeth and husband Larry Bobbitt of Omaha, Donna Rasmussen of Toledo, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, George Curtis and Herman Hood; a sister, Susan Grint, and a grandson James Curtis.
Funeral services were Jan. 11, 2011, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Dean Pofahl officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Sargent. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
