MK Mueller gave an inspirational USembly to the students in grades 7 through 12 at Anselmo-Merna High School Jan. 25, 2011. US stands for Unlimited Solutions.
She covered the first three high ways out of her 8-to- Great curriculum and kept the students involved throughout the our and a half presentation.
International trainer, life coach and author MK Mueller spent 10 years as a high school teacher and loved her job, but there came a time when she had to face her own issues. Although MK’s high school and collegiate careers included numerous honors, she found herself in a domestic violence shelter at the age of 34.
Her newfound insights, combined with her passion for education, led to the creation of her 8-to-Great life skills program for adults and curriculum for students.
Today she takes her message to CEO’s for Fortune 500 companies, recovery centers, high schools, and college campuses and has trained more than 900 certified trainers of her 8-to-Great curriculum.
MK is the author of “Taking Care of Me: The Habits of Happiness” as well as her new book, "8 to Great: The Powerful Process for Positive Change”, which won “Best Self Help Book of 2009” by Reader’s Favorite Awards.
High Way #1 is Get the Picture, and she gave examples of how “a belief is a thought you keep thinking until you feel it.” MK also says that “Dreams are B.I.G.: Bold, Innovative and Grand. With Dreams we ignore the where-when-who-how and only focus on what and why!” She teaches that “if you can conceive it and then truly believe it, you will achieve it.”
High Way #2 is Risk. She gave the students several examples of Risks that would be running to their dreams and several examples of Risks that would be running from their dreams. Risks running to a dream could be asking a teacher for help, trying out for the school play, getting a part-time job, or applying for a scholarship. Risks running from a dream could be not turning in a homework assignment, getting in trouble with a teacher, picking on another student, or doing something illegal.
High Way #3 is Full Responsibility. MK says that “the opposite of full responsibility is when we live in BC which stands for Blaming and Complaining. Instead, we can move to AD, which stands for Acting and Dreaming.” She teaches that we can either be part of the solution or part of the problem and it is our choice.
Tyler Wilson commented on the USembly; “Mary Kay was very inspirational and taught life lessons in only 1.5 hours.”
MK asked Don Cantrell to be in attendance at her USembly in order to interview him about his success. Don commented on MK Mueller, “This seminar was one of the more interesting things that I have participated in. The students really came alive. They wanted to participate in the process that Mary Kay was teaching. I am really excited as well. I plan to attend one of the two day training sessions because these are skills that I need to learn. This program will make a difference in the lives of every person that goes through it.”
