Margaret E. Wilcox, age 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Heritage Estates in Gering. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Jan. 31, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Fr. Vince Parsons celebrating. Interment was Feb. 1, at St. Mary’s Cemetery near Oconto. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Prairie Haven Hospice or a charity of your choice. Margaret was born July 29, 1916, in Miller, to Edd and Anna Jones. She graduated from Miller Schools and attended Kearney State College. She received a teaching degree and taught at rural schools near Miller.
Margaret was united in marriage to Harold (Mick) Wilcox Dec. 29, 1936. They moved to Oconto where they farmed for three years. In 1942, the family moved to Idaho and farmed for eight more years. In 1950, they purchased an oil business in Oconto.
Margaret was a wife, mother, homemaker and bookkeeper until Mick’s death in 1973. Margaret moved to Scottsbluff in 1974. She worked for Marlene Boston, served food samples at grocery stores, and was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church’s funeral committee. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Margaret is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Gary) Carpenter, Donna (Roger) Klypinger, Daniel (Connie) Wilcox, and Michael (Marla) Wilcox; sister, Shirley Barber; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; son Gregory; sister Dorothy Baker; brother Albert Jones and her parents.
She will be missed by her children and friends.
