VARIOUS SITES -- Five area boys basketball teams saw their season end with disappointment. In the Class D2-7 subdistrict, Litchfield’s season ended in overtime when Loomis made a 3-point basket with 4.5 seconds to take the lead 61-60. Litchfield’s last chance was a full court pass that was intercepted by Loomis who ran out the clock. In the other semifinal game, Pleasanton easily handled the SEM Mustangs winning 59-34. Dillon Line led the Mustangs with 19 points followed by Quinten Malcom with 9, Andrey Gallegos 2, John O’Neill 2 and Lance English 2.
Monday night, SEM defeated Wilcox-Hildreth 58-52 which advanced them to play Pleasanton. Against Wilcox-Hildreth, Line scored 28 points for the Mustangs followed by Angel Boteo with 11, Brandon Trampe 8, English 5, O’Neill 4 and Brian Guerra 2.
In the D2-8 subdistrict at Broken Bow, Arcadia defeated North Loup-Scotia 60-42 to advance to the subdistrict semifinals. Arcadia’s Dalton Williams scored 19 points followed by Michael Chelewski with 13, Brady Chilewski 10, Zach Lueck 7, Matthew Quick 5, Luke Schmauder 4 and TJ Oltman 2.
The Sargent Bulldogs won the other semifinal 55-17 over Loup County. The Loup County Wildcats had advaced to the semifinals after Justin Stapleton scored with a last second basket to give Loup County the 46-44 win.
Guy Fenske led the Bulldogs with 16 points followed by Theo Williams with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Tyke Kozeal with 10 points, Ridge Horky 7, Jack Gibbens 6 and Casey Richards 4.
In the D2-9 subdistrict, Anselmo-Merna lost an overtime heart-breaker to Eustis-Farnam 56-51. The Knights outscored the Coyotes 7-2 in the overtime period for the five point win. Joseph Christen scored 20 points to lead the Coyotes followed by Tyler Evans with 11 points, Cole Geiser 10, Gregory Christen 8 and Trey Gilligan 2.
To play in the semifinals, the Coyotes had to defeat Maywood Monday night. The Coyotes allowed Maywood to score just 10 points in the first half and held the lead throughout the second half for the 55-31 win. Geiser led the Coyotes with 17 points followed by J. Christen with 11, Gilligan 7, Dusty Chandler 6, Alecs Rumery 6, Ryan Halouska 4, Evans 2 and G. Christen 2.
South Loup lost to Burwell 45-26 in the bunny bracket game in the C2-10 subdistrict. South Loup’s Aaron Stryker scored 14 points to lead the Bobcats followed by Robert Pierce with 6, Chase Schwarz 2, Brent Urbanovsky 2 and Kyle Potter 2.
The Broken Bow Indians advanced to the subdistrict final with a 50-44 win over Southern Valley. Nathan Scott led the Indians in scoring with 22 points followed by Nate Hanson with 9, Hunter Campbell 8, Tyler Kozisek 6, Marc Sleicher 3 and Tanner Johnson 2. Broken Bow will now play top seed Hershey tonight in Lexington with the winner advancing to the C1-6 district final.
In the D2-11 subdistrict, Mullen disposed of Hyannis with a 67-19 win. The Broncos will now face off against Cody-Kilgore who was a 51-46 winner over Arthur County.
