Evelyn was born in Broken Bow, Feb. 8, 1928, the daughter of John and Lila (Spencer) Piper. She received her education at Broken Bow High School.
Evelyn enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. Even after the empty nest, John and Evelyn continued fishing and camping trips. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, family vacations, crossword puzzles, researching and recording family genealogy records, keeping in touch with friends and family through email and Facebook, and spending time with her grandkids.
Her family will remember her selflessness and thoughtfulness, never forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions and always sending a card on the special day.
Her unconditional love could always be felt. Family and friends have cherished memories of Evelyn’s famous fudge, peanut brittle, grape jelly, and fried chicken. The grandkids could always count on a closetful of toys when visiting, and a night full of card games.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years, John Weatherly; her children and their spouses, Linda (Jim) Lempke of Ogallala, Larry (Jo) Weatherly of Windsor, Colo., Norm (Bonnie) Weatherly of Casper, Wyo. and John Weatherly Jr. of Grand Island; sister, Helen (Larry) Hearing of Corvallis Ore.; and sister-in-law, Wanda Weatherly of Broken Bow.
