The Custer County Foundation reviewed grant requests for the period ending April 30, 2011 and is awarding a total of $17,800.00 to Custer County organizations.
“It’s always an exciting time when we get to announce our grant recipients,” said Lisa Bell, Executive Director of the Foundation.
“The generous support we receive from our donors through our annual Custer County Christmas event enables the Foundation to continue to increase the amount of funds granted out each year.”
The grant recipients were announced at the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Celebration June 30 in Broken Bow’s City Square.
Over 500 people enjoyed a free barbecue and music of the Custer County Community Chorus.
The Grants committee at the Foundation recommended, and the Board of Directors approved, the following awards:
Arnold Rotary Club: $2,000 for restroom facility at City Park Recreation Lake area.
Broken Bow Girl Scout Troop 265: $300 for the Melham Frisbee Golf project.
Broken Bow Head Start: $1,600 for Nature Explore playground enhancement.The $1,600 is contingent on Head Start raising the remaining funds ($4,400).
Sargent Bulldog Education Foundation: $800 for postage, supplies for a mail campaign.
Custer County Ag Society: $1,000 for Water main replacement.
Custer County Historical Society: $3,100 for restroom facilities.
Healing Hearts & Families: $2,000 for domestic violence/sexual assault program.
Broken Bow PTA: $3,000 for iPads.
Sargent Summer Recreation: $3,000 for Restroom Construction at Sargent Ball Field.
Non-traditional scholarships awarded include:
Carol D’Josey - $500 for her R.N Tuition
Glatha Calvin - $500 for her Nursing School Tuition
