Leonard H. Nehls, age 74 of Arcadia, died Aug. 22, 2011, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Memorial services will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Arcadia Community Center in Arcadia with the Rev. Jeff Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City. Memorials have been established to the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Units.
Leonard H. Nehls was born March 23, 1937, at San Bernardino, Calif., to Henry and Mamie Pearl (Warford) Nehls. Leonard attended school in Kearney.
May 28, 1960, he was married to Loraine Schade in Kearney. Leonard and Loraine owned and operated a custodial and cleaning service in the Arcadia and Ord areas from 1981 until 2008.
Leonard enjoyed helping others, his grandchildren, hunting, traveling and was a very generous man.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Loraine of Arcadia; daughters, Alnetta (Dale) Hejtmanek of Clarks, and Maria Nehls of Strausberg, Colo.; sons, Percy (Mary) Nehls of Rogers, Ark., and Loran (Amy) Nehls of Madison; six grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Maria) Nehls of Lincoln and Leland (Virginia) Nehls of Grand Island; sister, Maxine Johnson of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Holly Holley of Texas, and Ila Nehls of Kearney; and brother-in-law, John Klosterman of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother Lyle Nehls; sister Myrtle Klosterman, and half brother Jess Holley.
