Gloria G. Sargent, age 82 of Luverne, Minn., died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at the Sanford Hospital in Luverne. She was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Sargent to Kenneth and Maude (Coggins) Sargent.
Gloria graduated from Gibbon High School in 1947, and then attended Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney and obtained her teaching degree. She taught country school in the central Nebraska area.
She lived with her parents who owned and operated The Verne Drive Inn, where she worked until 1969. She then moved with her parents to Grand Island.
In 1997, Gloria moved back to Luverne. She became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home in Hill, Minn., in 2001.
Gloria is survived by her two nephews, Tom (Karla) Sargent of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Danny (Suzanne) Hawke of Broken Bow; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Sargent of Sioux Falls, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louis Sargent; and her sister, Dean Hawke.
A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 23, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minn. A memorial service will also be Saturday, Oct. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. Burial of the cremains will be at the Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m.
Dingman Funeral Home of Luverne, Minn., assisted the family with the arrangements.
