Andrew C. Gobel, Jr., 75, of Grand Island, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Northridge Assembly of God Church in Grand Island. There will be no visitation. Cremation services were provided by Westlawn Memorial Park. Burial of ashes will be at 10:30 am Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Westerville Cemetery in Westerville.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials are suggested to Northridge Assembly of God Church or to the family.
Mr. Gobel was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Hyannis, to Andrew C. and Agnes G. (Baillie) Gobel. He grew up in Hyannis and Broken Bow, and graduated from Broken Bow High School.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956, and was honorably discharged in 1965. Following his discharge he enlisted in the Army National Guard.
Andrew retired from the National Guard in 1996.
He was united in marriage to Renate Kruger. The couple made their home and raised their three boys in Broken Bow and Grand Island where Andrew worked as a truck driver.
He was a member of Northridge Assembly of God Church and a past member of the Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow. Andrew enjoyed fishing.
Survivors of the immediate family include six sons, Michael Gobel, Steven Gobel and David Gobel all of Grand Island, and Daniel Lee and James Lee both of California. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Kristal Jones, Devin Marco and Jewel Marco; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Leona and Wilma.
