Goldie Shepherd, age 98, of Grand Island, formerly of Ansley, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the Wedgewood Hospice Center in Grand Island.
Goldie was born March 26, 1913, near Arcadia. She was the youngest daughter of Samuel D. and Rhoda R. (Henry) Hurlbert.
Goldie was married to John H. Shepherd Oct. 26, 1932, at Berwyn. To this marriage were born eight children; Leland Shepherd and wife Margaret of Seattle, Wash., Violet and husband Myron Nietfeldt of Grand Island, Donna Shepherd of Grand Island, Evelyn and husband Gaylord Slingsby of Ansley, Phillip and wife Mona Shepherd deceased, Dennis and wife Esther Shepherd of Grand Island, Ralph Shepherd of Omaha, and Mel and wife Deb Shepherd of Ansley. Also surviving are many grand and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday. Feb. 13, 2012, in the Christian Church in Ansley, with the Rev. Bill Ragan officiating. Burial was in the Westerville Cemetery, with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lillian M Henry, and Sylvia N. Henry-Garniss; brothers, Samuel W., Warren R. and Alfred Hurlburt; husband, John, and a son Phillip.
