Dennis was born Aug. 15, 1957, in Ord, to Gilbert and Irene (Hulinsky) Seidel. Dennis graduated from Burwell High School in 1975. After graduation he worked construction, farmed and ranched and was a bull fighter for rodeos.
Dennis married Nancy Barnhart. To this union two sons were born: Phillip and Merlin. They lived in the Burwell area for a few years and then moved to Sargent. Dennis and Nancy were later divorced.
Dennis farmed, ranched and worked for Trotter Fertilizer. He traveled with his boys to most of the inland states. He was active in 4-H, and the Sargent Fair Board.
In 2008, Dennis met his best friend and soul mate Kathy (Grint) Wilson. It was some of the best times of their lives. Dennis loved to travel and wanted to show Kathy the world. They loved to spend time sitting on the bridges in the Sargent area and creating all kinds of projects together. His special granddaughters gave him so much joy. Their hunts, fishing, sledding and cooking together were just some of the adventures they would do.
He enjoyed water fights at the end of fair and at home. He liked buffalos and bringing joy to other people. He was also an AA sponsor and enjoyed tinkering with things. His latest dream was making sure the Sargent Veteran’s Memorial will be completed.
Dennis is survived by a son, Merlin Seidel of Sargent; his best friend, Kathy Wilson of Sargent, and her family Brandi Wilson and Jeff Walent of Sargent, Dustin and Holly Wilson and Hayley Wilson and Angel Castaneda all of Victorville, Calif., and his special grandchildren, Rayven, Rikki, Jenna and Shae; brothers and sisters, Pat and Rod Valasek of Comstock, John and Cindy Seidel of Ainsworth, Gerald Seidel of Crawford, Dale and Teresa Seidel of Burwell, Frank and Marilyn Seidel of La Crosse, Kan., Robert and Vonnie Seidel of Ainsworth, and Margaret Seidel of Ord, and nieces and nephews.
