Rapid progress is being made on the new North Park elementary school, and the Little Feet, Big Dreams Campaign is in full swing to raise the funding required for the pieces of the project not covered by the bond.
In the coming weeks, three fundraising projects are planned to give people the opportunity to help. And what a variety of projects they are!
Sly’s Chili Cook-Off:
The first of the three is this weekend, with the 8th Annual Chili Cook-Off & Benefit Auction at Sylvester’s March 9. Participants are encouraged to enter a crock pot of their favorite chili, with an entry fee of $5. Those attending the event will vote on their favorite, with cash prizes being awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
The evening will also include a live auction, and raffles for a $200 gas card, $100 cash and a 1974 Dodge Dart. All proceeds from the event will go to the Little Feet, Big Dreams campaign to be used for the purchase of playground equipment at North Park.
BBHS Variety Show:
Then just two days later, on March 11, the high school fine arts department will host a variety show in the Middle School Auditorium. Special “fun” performances are planned by the BBHS band, choir, speech and drama departments, beginning at 7 p.m. Cost for admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for children 12 and under.
The evening will conclude with a back stage reception hosted by the Broken Bow Public Schools Foundation. Proceeds from this event will go directly to the Little Feet, Big Dreams fine arts facility project.
PTA Flower Sales:
Citizens will be given another opportunity to help with these projects as the Broken Bow PTA, in partnership with Arrow Seed, will again sponsor a Spring Flower Sale. Students began selling flowers the first of March, and will continue the sales until March 18.

The Little Feet, Big Dreams is a capital campaign of the Broken Bow Public Schools Foundation. It was established to raise funding for North Park elementary im-provements not included in the $5.8 million project approved by voters in 2011.
The Little Feet, Big Dreams campaign has been divided into four major projects:
Project 1 - flooring and gym equipment for the new multi-purpose room
Project 2 - playground equipment
Project 3 - bleachers for the new multi-purpose room
Project 4 - renovation of the Middle School gym as a performing arts center

PTA Can Drive:
In addition to the upcoming fundraising projects mentioned above, the PTA is also sponsoring a can drive beginning the end of this month and running throughout the month of April. Cans can be dropped off at the designated site at Ag Land ATV.
The PTA hosted their 2nd annual “Bid-A-Bag” auction Feb. 2, which raised $4,700 which will go toward the playground equipment project. Co-chairs for that event, Pam Holcomb and Jackie Schinkel, were thrilled with the outcome of this year’s event - last year’s raised $1,810.
