Fundraising efforts continue for a new Performing Arts Center in Broken Bow, with a special concert event scheduled for Tuesday, April 1.
The 7 p.m. concert in the Broken Bow Jr. High Auditorium will feature reVoiced - a five-member male a cappella band. This group has such a passion for helping schools solidify their music programs that it has become a major focus of their time and talents.
After a week of touring in Phoenix, reVoiced began their Music in Schools Tour in Wisconsin in February. The tour gives the group an opportunity to work hands-on with school choirs, as well as raise money for the music programs.
At each school, the group performs a concert for the public, with a portion of proceeds being donated directly to the school music department. “I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to travel to different parts of the country doing what I love,” says Florida native Rolin Alexis. “And performing for kids is such a cool opportunity. I was always inspired as a kid when people would come perform at my school, so this sort of brings it all home for me.”
This will be the first tour for Alexis, who recently joined the group on bass.
Hearing the term, “a cappella,” most people’s minds travel back in time to the eras of that classic barbershop sound. Guys standing on a sidewalk singing in consonant four-part harmony, wearing stylish straw boater hats… you know the ones. ReVoiced, however, is NOT your classic barbershop group.
Covering a fun and exciting combination of classic oldies and newer pop hits designed to appeal to multigenerational audiences, reVoiced rekindles old flames while lighting new ones. They will have audiences singing, dancing and clapping along as they “revoice” old favorites and new hits with their unique style, moves, personalities, and their powerhouse vocals.
Admission to the concert is $10 per person, with part of those proceeds going toward the new Performing Arts Center. Tickets may be purchased at the superintendent’s office in the high school, the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce, Schmick’s Market or Grocery Kart. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the show.
