Thomas E. Joyce, age 85, of Broken Bow, passed away Friday June 6, 2014 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial was in the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Broken Bow. Memorials may be made to the family.
Thomas E. Joyce was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Spalding, to Thomas J. and Leona (Walsh) Joyce. He attended school at Spalding Academy Schools and graduated in the class of 1946.
Tom served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Thomas married Winifred Shepherd in Manchester, England.
Tom was a life-long mechanic, serving many area businesses as well as the BNSF railroad from which he retired, and also the City of Broken Bow.
Tom enjoyed his grandchildren, collecting old cars, gardening, and hunting and fishing.
Tom was a member of the Broken Bow American Legion and Broken Bow Elks 1688.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Winifred Joyce of Broken Bow; one son, Stephen Joyce of Alliance; two daughters, Janet Coffman of Ansley, and Julie (Tim) Kettleborough of Hastings; one sister, Norma (Bill) Kryger of Missouri; four grandchildren, Amber, Jesse (Marcy), Ammie (Roger), Ashly (Isaac); one step-grandson, Dustin; and five great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; son Gary; and two sisters, Rita and Helen.
