Peggy Lyn Franzen of Broken Bow passed away unexpectedly at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center Sept. 29, 2010.
Peg was born May 13, 1958, at the Broken Bow Hospital. She was the third child born to Richard and Arlene Franzen of Arcadia.
Peg graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1976. After graduation she started working at B-D. She made many friends in the 20 years she was employed there.
Her next job was as a checker at Medicine Chest. When Pamida purchased Medicine Chest, Peg was hired. In the 15 years there she made many friends, not only with the employees, but also with her customers.
Peg enjoyed collecting. She collected antiques, tins and miniatures. Where others saw junk, Peg saw beauty. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed cartoons, and trivia. She knew the theme songs to many old television shows as well as the actors and the characters they portrayed.
Her long-time companion was “Miss.” Miss was there every night when Peg came home. She would listen to Peg tell her about her day and would over a loving purr in return. Their love was unconditional for each other.
Peg is survived by her mother, Arlene Franzen of Broken Bow; sisters, Penny Trew of North Platte, and Patty and Marc Harpham of McCook; brother Randy and Dian Franzen of Broken Bow; nieces and nephews, Lori, Dustin and Jodi, Nestor and Sheena, Jacob, Dann, Amanda, Jacie and Christopher, Brett, Dillon, Ashton and Alexa; great-nephew and nieces, Samantha, Nicholas and Baylea.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Franzen; and brother, Frankie.
Memorial services were Oct. 2 at Govier Brothers Mortuary with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Interment was in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Hospice.
Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
