Broken Bow was named the fifth safest community in Nebraska in an announcement made by SafeWise Nov. 27, 2017. The "10 Safest Cities in Nebraska" report which Broken Bow was listed as fifth in, was based off of property crime data from 2015 that the SafeWise organization analyzed. The Broken Bow Police were recognized with a certificate presented by Deb Kennedy, Executive Director of the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce, during the Feb. 13 City Council meeting for their service to the community and aid in keeping residents safe. "I think the officers work hard to protect the citizens of this town," Chief of Police Steve Scott said.
