Diana J. Fred, 89

Diana J. Fred was born July 15, 1923, at Eli, Nebr., to Marion and Letha (Tate) Hoagland. Diana attended school in Mullen, and college at Chadron State College where she received a teaching degree.Diana was raised in Blanding, Utah until the age of 14, when she moved to Nebraska and lived with her Aunt Zetta Tate. Diana taught in the Sandhills until she was united in marriage to Glenn J. Fred June 9, 1946. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. They resided in the Sandhills and ranched until 1949, when they moved to the K.C. Ranch in Somerford Valley. While on the ranch Diana was involved in raising her family and Charolais cattle. Diana was active in the Nebraska Charolettes, Nebraska Cow-belles, and she really enjoyed sewing and gardening. Diana and Glenn moved to Broken Bow in 1981, where Diana resided until 2004. She lived in the Sargent Key Villa and then moved to Off Broadway in Broken Bow. Diana lived the last two years in Sargent with her daughter Tami. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, and local Does organization. She worked at the Tumbleweed cafe meeting and greeting customers for 18 plus years.She is survived by son, Jamie and his wife Kay and their children Holly and Stoney; son, Myron and his children Jim, wife Amy, Cody, wife Alishia and their daughter Leah; Tami and her children Ty, Chanc, Sloan and Grady; sister, Thelma of Salt Lake, Utah; brother, Larry of Arizona.She is preceded in death by parents Marion and Letha; and husband Glenn Fred.Diana passed away Aug. 23, 2012, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. Graveside services were Aug. 27, with Pastor Todd officiating at the Broken Bow cemetery.Pallbearers were Ty, Chanc, Sloan and Grady McIntosh; Jim and Cody Fred; Stoney and Holly Fred.Published in Custer County Chief, Aug. 30, 2012
