Fruit and smoothie stand up and running at Grocery Kart

The Grocery Kart in Broken Bow officially opened their new fruit, juice and smoothie stand Friday afternoon, June 3.

The stand sports signs painted by Broken Bow art students. On hand for the ribbon cutting were two of the art students involved with the project, Abby Olson and Kayley Denson. They will both be seniors this fall.

The smoothies are made from fresh fruit, Produce Manager Ken "Rudy" Handley emphasized. "Not frozen," he said.

There will be a set menu, Assistant Manager Sarah Mooney said. "We'll offer two or three types of juice, two or three types of smoothies" a day, she said.

Doug Nielsen, Store Director, sees the stand as a way to offer even better customer service. "Our first objective is to serve the customer. We wanted to bring that out in produce. Offering fresh fruit is the best way to do it," Nielsen said.

The hours of the stand are 8 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. Weekend hours are still being determined and will be set to meet customer needs. "We will grow to customer demands," Nielsen said.
