Marilyn Gray, 73

Marilyn Gray, 73, of Fort Morgan, Colo., died just after midnight, Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo., following a short illness. Marilyn Kay Raymond was born to Maxine E. (Munn) and Harland C. Raymond in Broken Bow, April 25, 1937. She lived her childhood in Broken Bow and Anselmo, and a short time in Los Angeles during World War II when her father served in the Pacific with the U.S. Army. She graduated from Anselmo High School in 1955. Marilyn married Eldan Crone and they were blessed with three children: James, Jody and Jared. They lived in Idaho and Colorado and were later divorced. Marilyn later married Gary Gray and they resided in Colorado, Wyoming and Texas. Marilyn returned to Nebraska after her divorce from Gray and resided there until her retirement, when she moved to Ft. Morgan, Colo., to be with her children. She was a telephone switchboard operator for Northwestern Bell and a secretary at the Methodist Church, both in Broken Bow. She also worked on a potato harvest crew outside of Malta, Idaho and later was an office manager for a mental health facility in Scottsbluff, before retiring from the Aging Office there. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children, James (Lynda) Crone, Jody Strouse and Jared (Jenn) Crone, all of Fort Morgan, Colo.; grandchildren, Kirk, Brock and Chynna Crone all of Fort Morgan, Kaylyn Ohm of Killeen, Texas, Ryan Crone of Denver; brother, Howard (Marlene) Raymond of Madison, Ala.; sisters, Glea Pracht of Fort Morgan, and Mary Ellen Hitt (Howard) of Heyburn, Idaho. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 29th at the Heer-Dahl Chapel in Fort Morgan. There will be a private inurnment at Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Marilyn has asked any donations be made to The Nebraska Children’s Home, the Fort Morgan Humane Society or the Denver Rescue Mission. The Heer & Dahl Mortuaries are in charge of the arrangements.
