Mason City Post Office faces closure; Meetings planned

MASON CITY - - Residents of Mason City are urged to attend an important meeting in their community next week. The U.S. Postal Service has scheduled a meeting for all Mason City postal customers about the possible closing of the Mason City Post Office. The meeting will be at the Mason City Community Building Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. Representatives of the Postal Service will explain options, answer questions and listen to comments from local citizens. If you have a 68855 zip code, you are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting in Mason City. Information about the proposed closing is available in the Mason City Post Office. Comment forms to submit in support of keeping the office open are available at the Mason City village office and from businesses and local individuals. The proposed closing was discussed at the Community Service Meeting this past Monday evening, and a planning meeting will be held at the Community Building Oct 9, at 7 p.m. All Mason City postal customers are asked to please come and help make a difference in their small town.
