Nebraska Cattleman's Classic 2013, by Nate Williams

Howdy everyone, The Nebraska Cattleman's Classic in Kearney is in full swing. Monday and Tuesday featured working cattle horses from around the state along with some from Kansas and Missouri. Monday, cowboys showed thier horses off in the team penning, ranch sorting, and team roping.Tuesday, the horses competed in a modified trail and were able to be previewed with cattle.Last night the horse sale took place. The high seller was a bay horse that brought $6750.Today, the Hereford cattle came out and some really nice bulls, steers, an heifers made their appearances. The average buy for one of these registered Herfords was a around $2300.If your looking for anything that is ag related, go visit with the vendors. There is everything from trailers to hydraulic chutes there. If your needig a new saddle or the wife is wanting a new necklace, you can find it at the Classic.The schedule has been changed a little due to the weather. The sales for tomorrow's shows will be postponed. Angus and Maine-Anjou cattle will not sell until Friday. FFA Day at the Classic will also be pushed back until Saturday and Check in time for the Junior show will be pushed back on Saturday.If you get a little time, take a trip down to Kearney and support some of the local producers at the Nebraska Cattleman's Classic. There is something there for everybody.
