Pink tractor draws attention for cancer research

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and each year at this time the local Breast Cancer Support Group hosts a cancer walk in downtown Broken Bow - to raise funds, and awareness, for a disease that afflicts so many. Joann Still is the chair of the local support group, which she started in 2005, one year after her own breast cancer diagnosis. However, she and the other members of the group - all breast cancer survivors - are quick to point out this walk is not just for breast cancer. Rather, the money raised during the event go to research for all cancers. This year, along with the walkers and the cancer survivors, a bright pink John Deere tractor was getting a lot of attention at the city square. The tractor is owned by Perry and Carol Meyers. And how it became a pink tractor is a rather amusing story. For full story, see the Oct. 11, 2012 Custer County Chief
