National Weather Service

The National Weather Service (NWS) Office out of North Platte has issued the following weather summary.

There will be snow from tonight (Thursday) through Saturday with a period of mixed precipitation (freezing rain/sleet) this evening, then snow.

Wind chills will approach -10 to -20 Friday and Saturday mornings.

The forecast calls for ice this evening, very light, then snow with 1 to 3 inches most areas of central and north central Nebraska.

The best snow chance is tonight and Friday.

Light snow, ice and very cold temperatures are expected present some difficulty for travel. Mixed precipitation/icy conditions this evening would increase impact on travel. Ice accumulations of a trace to a few hundredths of an inch are possible. Roads and walkways may become slippery from snow and a thin glaze of ice. Frostbite and hypothermia is possible from extended exposure to the cold.

There will be very cold wind chills (-10 to -20F) Friday and Saturday.
