'There is no change'

The Broken Bow School Board returned from closed session a little after 8 p.m. Wed., Feb. 7 with no change to their offer to the Education Association.

"There is no change to our proposal on the table," Board president Carl French said.

The board is proposing no increase to base pay and 75 accumulated sick days at $100 a day. French said that is the offer on the table until midnight, Feb. 8.

Kurt Altig asked for clarification, saying the BBEA agreed to the sick days Monday night.

"I think what he's trying to say is it's a package deal," Board member Pam Holcomb said.

French asked the BBEA if they had any input. They said no.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.

If an agreement isn't reached by end of day Feb. 8, negotiations could move into arbitration.

No further official meetings can be called before the deadline as 24 hours public notice of such meetings are required. However, if the BBEA chooses to accept the board's offer, they can do so without an official meeting by notifying board members.
